How can we make it easy and fun for people to recycle their clothing and do good at the same time? Erthaware’s founder, Delainey Ashbrook, asked herself this question and has made it her mission to build a business igniting a community to do so. As a child, Delainey’s mother, Linda, inspired a passion in her for thrifting clothing. Delainey learned to love the hunt to find that perfect gem of clothing or accessory to compliment her unique style at a minimal cost. She was intrigued by the adventure of thrifting and also was fulfilled knowing it was the right thing to do to help the environment by re-closeting, re-creating, and recycling. During Delainey’s freshman year at Utah State University, she had the assignment to write an argumentative essay, and she chose to tap into her passion and write her essay on “Why you Should Recycle Clothing”. Delainey spent countless hours researching the topic and it was then that she learned of the huge crisis of clothes and products filling the landfills. 48 million tons of textiles are disposed of worldwide every year. Delainey was appalled by the enormous waste and potential harm to our environment and decided she wanted to help do something about it. This learning struck a chord with her entrepreneurial spirit and Delainey chose to create a company to make an impact on solving this problem. It was at this time that the Erthaware concept was born.
Erthaware, is an online business that would make donating, recycling, and re-closeting clothing simple, fun, and rewarding while preventing clothes from going into our landfills. Erthaware is an inviting digital platform where people can clean out their closets, easily donate their clothing and give back to their community. Erthaware then takes that clothing and finds a way to re-closet, recreate or recycle that clothing. Extending the life cycle of clothing and sharing products with those less fortunate will definitely make an impact on the greater community. For those looking to find that unique gem of clothing, Erthaware offers a large range of styles and price ranges ensuring that there is that perfect find and affordable pricing for everyone. Erthaware makes it easy for you to purchase clothing and do good at the same time by buying recycled clothing. Delainey’s vision is to create a community where it becomes second nature for people to clean out their closets and donate for good. By making it simple and rewarding to recycle, she inspires people to keep clothes out of landfills and helps the average person re-closet, recreate, and recycle for the greater good of our community.
